Draupadi Murmu is an Indian politician. In 2022, an election was held to appoint the President of India. Draupadi Murmu was nominated for the post of President by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Draupadi Murmu was the official candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the post of President. He defeated Yashwant Sinha. He won the title of the 15th President of India by securing more than 50 percent of the votes in the presidential election. Notably, Draupadi Murmu is India's first female tribal (scheduled tribe) president. Early Life of Draupadi Murmu

Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 1958 in a tribal family in Baidaposi village of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. His father's name was Biranchi Narayan Tudu. Interestingly, his father and grandfather were the heads of his village. It would not be wrong to say that since his grandfather and father were the heads of the village, he must have been inculcated in politics from his childhood.

Draupadi Murmu Education

Draupadi Murmu was very much inclined towards education from the beginning. There is a government school at some distance from his village where he received his primary education. He completed his primary education under very difficult conditions.  

The big question before him was where to go for his secondary education after completing his primary education as there were no avenues of education available near his village. Finally he had to go to Bhubaneswar for his secondary education. There she completed her secondary education in Bhubaneswar Girls High School.

After completing secondary education, Draupadi Murmu took admission in Ramadevi Women's College for higher studies. Ramadev Women's College has now become Ramadevi University. She completed her higher education from 1975 to 1979.

After completing her higher education, Draupadi Murmu got a job as a Junior Assistant in the Electricity Department in the Government of Odisha. She completed this job from 1979 to 1983. Then in 1994, she started working as a teacher at the Aurobindo Integral Education Center in Rairangpur and till 1997 she worked.

Although Draupadi Murmu was born in a tribal family but all her family members were educated. As his father and grandfather were village chiefs, he came into contact with all the people in the village, so he learned the lessons of politics at home. Later Draupadi Murmu got married to Shyam Charan Murmu. Shyam Charan Murmu was working in a bank. Draupadi murmu had three children two sons and one daughter. Later, unfortunately, both his sons died. His daughter is married and lives in Bhubaneswar.

Draupadi Murmu Political Career and Achievements

Before joining politics, Draupadi Murmu was working as a teacher. He has worked in many political positions such as corporator, MLA, minister in the state government, and governor.

She was elected as a corporator of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat in 1997. She also served as the National Vice-President of the Scheduled Tribes Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Draupadi Murmu is a former Minister of Odisha and was MLA from Rairangpur Assembly Constituency in 2000-2004 and 2004-2009.

She was the Minister of State for Commerce and Transport from 6 March 2000 to 6 August 2002 and the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resource Development from 6 August 2002 to 16 May 2004 during the coalition government of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Biju Janata Dal in Odisha.

He has also been honored with the Neelkanth Award for 'Best MLA' by the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2007.

Draupadi Murmu was the first woman Governor of Jharkhand, and served from 18 May 2015 to 12 July 2021. She was also the first woman tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed as the Governor of an Indian state.

Draupadi Murmu was very successful in her political life but faced many problems in her personal life. There was also a time when Draupadi Murmu went into depression. This was in 2009 when one of his sons died prematurely at just 25 years. After the untimely death of her son, Draupadi Murmu was so shocked that she went into depression. To come out of this, she resorted to adhyama and joined the Brahmakumari organization.

While gradually coming out of that depression, in 2013, his second son died in a road accident. Shortly after the boy's death, his mother and brother also died. Draupadi Moormu's husband also died in 2014. After the death of her husband, she finds it difficult to return to social life. But he did not give up and resorted to spirituality and yoga to come out of depression. And he won this battle. And after this she became the first woman Governor of Jharkhand.
