The full form of MPSC in English is Maharashtra Public Service Commission.


What is MPSC?


As we have seen above, what is the full form of MPSC? So now we will see what MPSC is.


 The MPSC exam is conducted at the state government level just as the Upsc exam is conducted at the central government level. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is the body which conducts recruitment examinations in the State of Maharashtra. This commission plans examinations in Maharashtra. Through which officers are selected in various departments of the State Government. Various exams are conducted every year by MPSC. Through which they select eligible candidates from various departments such as Administration, Police, Forest and Engineering. This includes selection for Group-A and Group-B officer posts.

Eligibility for MPSC


Must be an Indian citizen.


A graduate of any Streams or a candidate appearing for the final year examination of the degree can apply for this examination. Degree percentage is not required for this exam.


Graduate candidates of any Streams who have completed 19 years of age can appear for the State Service Examination.


Candidates in the open group can appear for this examination up to the age of 38 years. And reserved group students can be given up to 43 years of age.

Prelims Exam


This first phase of MPSC consists of two papers. The first paper is of General Studyus which is of 200 marks in which 100 questions are asked for 2 marks each. And for this paper 2 as well as time is given. This paper covers some aspects like history, geography, state system, as well as economics, environment, current affairs, general science.  The next paper is CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test). This is also a 200 mark paper. But this contains 80 questions. And each question is worth two and a half points. It has a negative marking system for all the papers. And 1/3 is the marking method. This means that the marks of 1 question will be deducted for every 3 wrong questions.


Mains Exam


The second stage of the examination is the Mains Exam. In this stage there are 6 papers. The first and second paper out of 6 papers is in language. There is a Marathi paper for 50 marks, there is a Marathi paper for 50 marks and a separate answer sheet is given for this.


 The second paper after that is also about language. But it is multiple choice and also has 50 marks for Marathi and 50 marks for English. This is a paper of 100 marks in total. In this 100 questions are asked for 100 marks. So 1 question is for 1 mark.


  The third paper after that is called General Studies 1. This paper is a paper of 150 marks. It covers history, geography, besides agriculture.


 The fourth paper after that, General Studies 2, is a paper of 150 marks only. And this paper covers elements of political science, Indian constitution and politics as well as law.


 The fifth paper in the MPSC exam is known as General Studies 3. This paper is also a paper of 150 marks. And these include HR (Human Rights) and HRD (Human Resource Development).


 The last paper in the Mains Exam in MPSC is called General Studies 4. It covers Economics, Agricultural Economics, and Science and Technology. And this is also a paper of 150 marks. And it has 150 questions.


 

 This main exam also has Negative Marking method like the previous exam. And this is a 1/3 marking system. The Mains Exam has a total of 800 marks and the candidates selected from it are eligible for the interview.


Interview


The interview for MPSC is 100 marks in total. Here the personality of the eligible candidates, ability to think, ability to make decisions etc. are checked and you are given marks accordingly.


 Next, ranking is done by combining the marks of both Mains Exam and interview. And the final result is declared accordingly.
